HISTORY:
Matthew grew up with rich parents and everything a child could have wanted, toys, games, a great big house with a great big garden. He had everything but his own parents. Brad and Jeanette work together, in a marriage more similar to a business agreement than a loving relationship. ‘Their company works internationally, requiring them to travel a lot during his younger years, leaving Matthew alone with a squad of different babysitters.

As a child, he always felt immensely lonely when going to sleep alone. His babysitter managed to solve his troubles sleeping by putting on audiobooks to last the night. As he grew and the nannys disappeared one by one, he replaced the books with music or movies but none of them ever managed to replace the feeling of sleeping with other people in the house.

While he was in middle school he got diagnosed with ADHD, but his parents denied him any kind of medication to help him in school, not wanting “crazy shrinks doping up their son”. Desperatly trying to finish school, he started trying different methods to get himself to focus in class. At first he bought the meds from a friend, but as it got too expensive for his limited allowance he started running for at least an hour before school. It increased his performance in class, making sure he didn’t have to redo a year or two. This was also the starting point for his straight A’s in PE and his nowadays considerable interest in sports and athletics.

As he got into sports he started gaining more and more friends and acquaintances but he never really managed to get past the superficial part of school friendship. He started throwing parties when his parents were away and quickly became the guy you got in touch with if you needed help with anything. Desperate to please and with easy access to all the essentials and more from his parents and their more than well stocked wine cellar, he quickly bended to the powers of peer pressure and started both smoking and drinking.

This new arrangement of both parties and people crashing over on both weekends and schooldays didn’t bother him much, seeing as he now had the possibility to get as much company as a good nights sleep required. This all ended at the end of middle school, when his parents decided they missed too much of his childhood, and that it was time to make up for it. This accompanied with them finally taking the time to look at his grades which, admittedly weren’t much good released a clusterfuck of the sudden parental responsibility to yell a lot at him. Being eager to please his parents since they finally paid attention to him he did his best to study, but even when he did understand the schoolwork, his mind went blank at tests and he kept getting nothing more than a barely passing grade. He no longer had time to run and this combined with the stress made his grades fall again, and they decided to move him to a new school.

APPEARANCE:
Dark hair and dark brown eyes. Has bad eyesight but usually wears lenses. A bit muscular but in the lean way and he usually doesn’t wear anything more complicated than a t-shirt and jeans in dull colors. Usually carries a blank expression or a glare, due to his not so good temper. He’s 5 foot five. He gets sunburnt easily but tends to be too lazy for sunscreen.

Sprinting, he finds it rather relaxing to run when stressed out.
Cooking meals for other people, even though he’s not always the greatest at it.

Theoretical subjects in school (Math, English, Science).
The feeling of stubble.

People who accomplish better than him in the things he cares about (Sports, social events, cooking). He is a very sore loser.

Public humiliation or generally failing at things in front of others. He’s insanely scared of ending up with no friends or family when he finishes school.

Has an incredible love for Romantic dramas, something he’s very ashamed of as a 15 year old boy.
