FAMILY:
Mother: Laurel Faith Haworth (36)
Father: Calvin Thomas "Cal" Morneau (37)
HISTORY:
Early in the morning on November 18th, 1995, just one more little girl was brought into the world; sadly, the circumstances surrounding this tiny blonde's arrival were not ideal. Her mother, Laurel Haworth, had been as innocent as anything when she met Cal Morneau, whose intentions were anything but bad. He loved Laurel, but wasn't someone her parents would approve of, and even though she was nineteen and technically should have been able to make her own decisions without feeling guilty, they still had a great influence on her, seeing that she was their only child and had always been very close to them. This led to the running around, secretly seeing each other, but it was difficult for Laurel to hide something so big as a pregnancy. She wasn't ready for a baby, regardless of where her relationship with Cal was, but as they were wondering who they would find to raise their child, his parents stepped in, urging him to do the right thing, not to give the baby up for adoption, and raise her himself. Sure enough, several uncomfortable months later, he was left with little Rylan.
The first year or so of Rylan's life was a bit tight-- Cal, being that he hadn't expected to suddenly be a father, didn't really have the resources to care for her on his own. They moved into his parents' home un their suggestion, and his mother watched her during the day when Cal worked jobs here and there, scraping up enough money, looking for a career he could settle into and support his family with. Soon after Rylan's first birthday, he found it. It was very shortly after that that Cal and Rylan moved out and into the city. It wasn't much, often a struggle, Cal having to surrender little Rylan to a daycare staff every morning so that he could go to work, but it was worth it.
As Rylan grew and came into her own, it became clear that she was a serious and strong-willed little girl, committed to anything she got into. When she started school, back in the suburbs, she immediately became involved in any activity she could physically get to-- soccer, softball, gymnastics. She saw her father's work ethic and wanted to work to develop one just like it, and he gladly allowed her to. It was the beginning of Rylan's true admiration of him. It was then that she began calling him Superman. Their relationship had been and always would be something of a partnership, maybe more of a friendship. It was Cal's belief from quite early in Rylan's life that she didn't need him to control her-- she had enough figured out.
As far as Rylan's mother, she was around occasionally, paying visits around birthdays when she could, calling to talk to her, see how she was, never seeming to feel especially bad for leaving her at such a young age, and Rylan never harbored any resentment for her mother. She wondered at times what having a mother at home would be like, but seeing as she was perfectly happy alone with her father, it never concerned her too much. She was a happy girl, like any other, and never gave those around her much of a problem.
Life remained the same for several years, until Rylan finished middle school. At that point, Cal's job moved them out of state. Rylan adjusted to the move, that was never an issue; but Cal's little girl wasn't so little anymore, and she had made the decision to keep to herself less at her new school. She was careful about the crowd she hung out with, but by her sophomore year, she was dating-- a lot. She made a habit of it, dating one guy until she wore the relationship out, and letting him go. While she never engaged in risky behavior and never slept with any of them, it concerned her father, who, while he wasn't against his daughter dating and possibly sleeping with boys (he trusted her enough by that point), he worried that the lack of a constant female role model was going to hurt her. As the end of the school year neared, he told her just that. Boarding school was his suggestion, though he wouldn't have sent her off if she hadn't agreed so easily.

[/b]APPEARANCE:
Rylan is a girl of a very average height, about 5'4". She's slender, but not extremely skinny, lightly toned around her legs from years of running track. She is also very pale, that mostly being the fault of her genetics. Her hair, which she generally keeps long enough to reach just past her shoulders, is (obviously) blonde, darker near the roots. She has lighter blue eyes, slightly green in certain lights. Rylan herself finds it ironic that she does, in fact, look much like her mother, who she has never seen much of in her life.
LIKES:
-Her dad.
-Running.
-Guys. She isn't particularly boy-crazy, but she isn't afraid to admit this one, either.
-Friends that appreciate her company, that she doesn't have to change herself to be with.
-Watching sports. She doesn't consider herself much of a girly girl.
-Politics. It's sort of a guilty pleasure thing for her, and she isn't so sure where it came from.
DISLIKES:
-When people don't believe they're worth anything.
-When people give themselves away without thinking about the consequences first.
-Drinking, drugs.
-Ignorance.
-People who pretend to be things they're not just to please others.
FEARS:
-Giving herself away to or falling in love with a guy who doesn't care about her.
-Losing herself now that she's on her own.
SECRET:
-She's protective of her emotions, not one to overreact to anything, but she is a total hopeless romantic.
-It's not a secret because she's trying to hide it, only because based on some of her behavior, one wouldn't think it's the case and she doesn't really talk about it, but she is a virgin.
GOAL:
-To get a good education and someday be able to support her father the way he has supported her.
-To have a family someday, one that will be whole and stay together. She loves her father and has always been very happy, but she doesn't always consider her family whole.
