HISTORY:
Bailey moved from Melbourne, Australia to San Francisco after her mother committed suicide, her step-father left her and her grandmother took her in. Bailey was born out of wedlock and never knew her father. Elizabeth (her grandmother) abandoned her mother out of shame, but wanted to have a relationship with Bailey after she was born, but thought Stephanie would be upset with her.
Stephanie married Dean only months after Bailey was born. They were happy for a time; that is before Dean showed his dark side. They soon found out he was a drunk and he slowly began to verbally abuse Stephanie over nothing. Eventually her worked his way towards physical abuse, but they managed to hide it from Bailey. Stephanie covered her bruises with make-up and didn’t talk to anyone about it. Bailey found out when she walked in on a beating when she was five. He chased her around the house and forced her into secrecy. Since then she has been keeping that secret, learning to cover her bruises with make-up and wearing clothes to cover scars from days where she couldn’t handle any of it and took it out on herself.
Bailey attempted to run away twice, but came home and dealt with the beating because she couldn’t leave her mother. Stephanie and Bailey were very close and kept their secret locked between them. Stephanie couldn’t handle anymore, when Bailey was 14, she found her mother in bed with a bottle of pills in her hand and no pulse. She took her mother’s death really hard and blamed her step-father completely. Bailey ran away from her Dean gave her the worst beating of her life, scaring her upper arm with a deep cigarette burn. She ran to her best friend’s house and lived in their loft until her grandmother’s lawyer found her and asked Bailey to come to San Francisco to live with her grandmother, who is a rich business woman who felt awful about what happened to her daughter and grand-daughter. Bailey reluctantly accepted and moved from Australia to the US, leaving everything she knew behind. With the help of her grandmother, she changed her last name to James, her mother’s maiden name, in an attempt to leave her past behind.
Bailey has been seeing a therapist and has PTSD. She has been getting better at trusting people. It took her months before she trusted Elizabeth. Throughout her life, despite everything that happened she found that the best way to get back at Dean was to be as happy as possible and to act as confident as she could. Taking that on, she pretends to be confident and aloof towards other people.

APPEARANCE: Bailey has lightly curled blonde hair and her eye colour is blue, but kind of changes in the light, sometimes appearing dark blue to almost brown in dim lighting to pale blue to light green in bright light. She has an ivory complexion which doesn’t really change from season to season, despite being Australian, Bailey doesn’t tan. She will only ever wear a tiny amount of make-up as too much reminds her of when she used to use the stuff to cover her bruises so no one would find out what was going on. It also bought up memories of her mother teaching her how to use it. Only wears mascara and a small amount of eye-liner along her top lids to make her eye lashes look thicker. Had the words Stay Strong tattooed on her left wrist over the top of one of her cutting scars as a reminder.
