FAMILY: Marisol's family is her world. Her family consists of her mami and abuelita. Marisol's brother is twenty-four and a drug lord back in Juarez. Her father was murdered when she was two, so she has no memories of him. For as long as Marisol can remember, it's just been her- the ija- her mami, and her abuelita. Una gran familia feliz.
Abuelita is the epitome of a senile grandmother. She sets her glasses on her head and then spends two hours looking for them. Abuelita is also convinced that Marisol is mami. "Mami,¿Dónde están mis gafas? I don't know where they are." (Mami, where are my glasses?) Her sentences often change from Spanish to English and back again, for the two languages are the same in her senile mind.
Mami is a hardworking, lower class mother. Everything that the three have, mami has worked her fingers literally to the bone to purchase and pay for. It's very hard for a woman who speaks no English to find a job. Mami has a learning disability that prevented her from speaking English. "Aye, Marisol. ¿Necesita dinero para el almuerzo?" (Hey, Marisol. Do you need lunch money?) She will ask Marisol. Typically, Marisol is able to come up with her own lunch money, but on the rare occasions where she can not, Mami will scrounge in her purse for her last bit of money and hand it over to Marisol selflessly. Marisol will always pay her mother back, though. "Gracias, Mami." (Thanks, Mami.)
HISTORY: Marisol was born September 11, 1994 in Juarez, Mexico. It is possibly one of the hardest places to grow up in, and Marisol will vouch for that. She grew up poor, with very little. For the two years that her father was around, he was completely dead beat and abusive. Marisol has no memories of him, except for a scar on her hairline and the stories of her mami and abuelita.
The Latina grew up like the rest of the kids in her 'hood'- survival of the fittest. Marisol has understood the concept of death from a very young age. She watched her neighbors, friends, schoolmates, family die out one by one, it seemed. All victims of the druglords and all-around bad people. If you made it past the age of fourteen, you were lucky. But not out of the woods. Juarez in itself is a literal representation of torture.
On Marisol's sixteenth birthday, she decided to go out with her current boyfriend. Mami set her curfew as midnight. When Marisol arrived home four hours late with bruises and lacerations on every inch of her body, Mami knew it was time to leave for her daughter's sake. "¿Qué le pasó?" (What happened to you?) Mami asked Marisol in a voice stone cold. "Fue Rico. Me violó. Entonces me golpeó." (It was Rico. He raped me. Then beat me.) Marisol had replied before passing out on the couch. Before Marisol could awake, Mami and Abuelita had already packed their few belongings and put everyone in the little car and began making their way to California, where they had a few friends.
Prior to moving to California, Marisol had already loved to party. But after the incident with Rico, she loved it even more because it pushed the past from her mind. So to everyone at Daze High, everyone knows her as the party animal. If only they knew why...

[/b] Marijuana, particularly purple diesel or dank. Alcohol, not beer. Tequila, it's her favorite so it gets its own category. Acid, pink elephants are fun. Knives, they've always kept her safe. Parties, who wants to dance? Dancing, her hips don't lie. Curse words, they extend her English vocabularyAPPEARANCE: Marisol has the sunkissed skin that is typical of those of Hispanic descent. She has deep brown eyes framed by eyelashes that are short, but have a medium thickness to him. Her face is smooth, save for a place on her chin where it was almost as if her designer slipped with the chisel and knocked too much away. Her lips are full, but do not fully connect and reveal her slightly larger teeth. Tresses of wavy brown hair surround and frame her face, and she posesses straight bangs to hide a slight (and seemingly permanent) acne breakout on her forehead. Looking at her face, you can determine the rest of her body size. It's fairly straight and thin, with minimal curves. Though aged eighteen, her body is the size of a junior high girl's with the height to match.
LIKES:
DISLIKES: Stupidity, it's just dumb. Racism, she's proud to be a Latina. Beer, it tastes like horse piss. Rednecks, they're everywhere man. Teachers, they're out to kill the fun. Sluts, they ruin everything. School, what's the point? Guns, they're faster than her knives.
FEARS: Marisol only has two fears, and those fears are sobriety and disappointing her Mami. Whenever she is sober, the real world comes rushing at her, reminding her of her problems and her past. Drugs and alcohol help her forget about the real world and keep her entertained. She knows her lifestyle choices would disappoint her Mami, so she covers them up while at home, pretending to be a model child. Her 'double life' keeps her on edge, and heightens her fear of of her mother's disappointment.
SECRET: The one thing Marisol wishes to keep hidden from the world is the fact that she actually cares. Her nonchalant personality and looks are Marisol's way of keeping the world- and her emotions- at bay. Once the care is suppressed, she can go and satiate her hunger to party.
GOAL: In the words of Eminem, 'get buzzed, get crunk, get drunk, get fuuuucked up.' All Marisol wants to do is party, and that's all that Marisol will do.
MENTIONABLES: There are several things that make Marisol who she is, so it's impertinent that they are known.
Personality:
Marisol's personality isn't all that hard to figure out. You get what you see with her, for the most part. She's one 'bad bitch,' and it's obvious in the way she looks, talks, and acts. Despite the tough girl living within her, however, Marisol can actually be quite fun... So long as illegal substances are involved. If Marisol has had the correct amount of alcohol, marijuana, or a hit of acid, be prepared for a party.
Marisol is not too fond of getting close to people, thus she has very few friends. Although, the few friends she does have, she would do anything for them. She treats them just like her own family. Mess with those in her tight circle and you might as well be fighting with a train. Giving up is not in Marisol's nature.
It's a good thing that giving up and not caring are separate, as well, because Marisol really doesn't care about a lot of things (at least, she pretends not to). School is one of the things that falls under that category of stuff Marisol ACTUALLY. In Mexico, Marisol could skip school and have no problems. Here, if she skips one time she's in trouble for God knows how long. It's a total mindfuck to her. American concepts blow her mind, and she finds them ridiculous and difficult to grasp.
Habits:
Marisol's habits aren't very typical considering she spent the first sixteen years of her life growing up on the hard streets of Juarez, Mexico. The drug capital of the world, pretty much. She learned how to fight, but more importantly she learned how to win. Marisol grew into the habit of carrying around a knife in her shoe. To be more extreme, she carries a razor blade in each cheek. The main thing that Marisol brought to California with her was her knowledge of partying. Marisol knows how to be the life of the party. She thoroughly enjoys the wonders of marijuana, acid, and alcohol. Specifically tequila. Give her just enough tequila, and she will show you her feisty Latina side, complete with sultry Hispanic dance moves.
Other:
Marisol, coming straight from Mexico, has a heavy Spanish accent. Her words are hard to understand sometimes, but it adds a near sultry edge to her. Marisol's accent covers her in an air of mystery and curiosity.
