Hmm, where to begin? Fine, let's start when she was born. One sentence could sum up this whole thing: she was a mistake.

Rosalyn's mother had been only sixteen when she was raped at a bar by Evan Sage, who had been twenty-two. She found out that she was pregnant after taking a pregnancy test. But Trinity couldn't just get an abortion, no, she was too nice for that. And nice enough to put up with her baby's father.

Her mother had to raise Rosalyn all by herself for the first few years in Rosalyn's life. Evan just made her life miserable. He did nothing to make money, and hurt his 'wife'. He would often beat her and sexually abuse her. Rosalyn didn't understand what was happening, since she was only four at the time.

Then Rosalyn was six when she came back from Kindergarden one day to see her father kill her mother. And she had started crying. Then came her mother's funeral-which Evan missed because of a drinking party- where her uncle, Alex, came up to her. Alex knew what his brother was like, and gave Rosalyn his card in case anything happened.

After Evan picked her up from the funeral and drove her back to their appartment, he started beating her, yelling at her. She didn't tell anyone at school about it, though sometimes the teachers see the bruises. After years of that, she finally remembered her uncle's number, and called him and told him everything. Alex came driving up to the appartment after that, and tried to have a talk with Evan, but he didn't listen. Helplessly, Alex left. After her uncle left, her dad was furious that Rosalyn had told someone. He locked her in the bathroom for two days, where she survived on sink water.

After her dad let her out, he continued the beatings again. She would often end up with a broken arm or leg, and she would call Alex. He would always come pick her up when her dad was out at his parties and take care of her. And it went on like that for a while. Before she knew it, she was twelve. She hadn't been in school since that Kindergarden day.

On her 12th birthday, her dad left for a fishing trip with his buddies. Alex came over and finally explained everything to Rosalyn. What her father had done, how he had killed her mother, made her life miserable... After the talk, Rosalyn was broken inside. She had long periods of silence where she would just stare at the wall and think. Just think. Other times she would just cry for hours. Other times cut herself, adding thin scars to the bruises.

Finally, when she was fourteen, she decided to do something. It was the biggest choice of her life. One day when her father came home, she was ready. As he took out his whip, she tightened her grip on the knife she was hiding behind her back. A few minutes later, Evan Sage, her own dad, was laying dead on the floor, surrounded by blood, a knife implanted deep in his back. Then Rosalyn called Alex.

It's been two years since Alex adopted Rosalyn. The best two years of her life. She attended school again, but she didn't quite...fit in. She was often found screaming at random students who had asked her about her past, crying in the bathrooms, and not answering teachers' questions in class. So Alex decided to homeschool her. It turned out much better, and he mostly caught her up to what kids her age knew. But one day, Alex found out that he had AIDS, and didn't want to risk giving it to her, so he signed her up for this boarding school.
