HISTORY:

Dark brown eyes looked up at new mother, Allie Lynn Astue, on the morning of August 17, 1995. As she and her husband, Mitchel Allen Astue, looked down to their first born son Liam, they knew that he was special, that something about this little boy was special.

Living in the empty country of Iowa left little Liam with all sorts of time on his hands. And since his mother was a teacher and his father a business man, the young boy turned to books for entertainment. While other kids were playing with toy soldiers, little Liam was building massive structures out of Legos. When a normal boy would be snuggled up in front of the TV, Liam was usually found in his room with a new story.

When Liam was four his parents brought home his baby brother, Finn Smith Astue. As Finn grew older he was more of the athletic type, which due to the domino effect caused Liam to become the same way. By the time Liam was 12 he was an athletic, intelligent, well rounded healthy boy, or so they the family thought.

While playing baseball with Finn on a warm Saturday morning Liam was hit with the ball in the leg. Thinking nothing of the deep purple bruise that appeared, he went on like nothing had happened. But as a week went on and the bruise didn’t fade at all, the family started to get concerned and took him in to see a doctor.

Instead of something small and simple, the family was shell shocked with devastating news. At the tender age of 12, Liam was diagnosed with Leukemia. Since his father was a wealthy business man, the family instantly put him in the best treatment money could buy. And this worked, sending Liam into remission after just a year of treatments.

This was great news, and life went on as it had before. Liam was able to live a normal life, becoming the studious young man he had been before the cancer hit. Everything went back to how it was supposed to be, that is until he turned fifteen. The cancer had come back, and it was worse. For the next two years he tried every treatment under the moon, all of them failing. He tried working out, eating healthy, but nothing worked. The family was devastated to find out that there would be no way to help him and that unless there was a new form of treatment that came out, his life was time stamped. His mother burst into tears and his father grew stone-faced when the doctor said that Liam would be lucky to live to his graduation day.

Hearing this changed the Astue’s forever. His parents we’re always stepping around Liam, afraid to hurt him. Finn suffered academically and mentally, the lack of attention made it hard for him to make it through the day. And of course Liam was changed too. He became the person that you wanted to be friends with, deciding to live his life to the fullest. He met girls, fooled around with them, drank, smoked, and occasionally tried drugs. He worked out, and studied harder than he ever had; the thirst to learn everything he could in the short lifetime that he had ahead of him.

When his parents discovered Daze in an academic catalog, they knew it was perfect for Liam. It had a great academic program, and good athletics too. The nearest hospital was only a few miles away and there were plenty of apartment buildings and houses near where his parents could live. As quickly as they could Mitchel and Allie signed Liam up, so he could live the rest of his life out at a place where he wanted to be.

APPEARANCE:

Because of the cancer Liam is thin and pale. He weighs only 150 pounds, which is rather skinny for his nearly 6 foot frame. His bones poke out and he has little muscle or fat of any kind on him at all. His brown hair is a an auburn color and is short-medium in length and puffs out all over his head. His eyes are his most striking feature, and they are a deep brown that pulls a person’s gaze to them immediately. There are multiple scars all over his body, the remains of multiple procedures.

As far as clothes go Liam likes to be dressy at times and simple at others. Jeans and a v-neck might be his look one day, and a sweater and dark wash another. It really just depends on his mood.
