HISTORY:
Maki was born in Japan to parents who couldn’t afford to keep her. She was adopted by a couple from Death Valley, California known by the names of Flannery and Dimitri Ayumu. They gave her the name Maki Lulu Ayumu. Still, to this day, she isn’t sure if that was her parents’ real names. When she was four, and her adopted older brother, Zero, was five, their parents woke them in the middle of the night. They’d been packing their bags, looking frantic, and yelled at the two siblings to get ready to leave. Flannery and Dimitri took them to their grandfather’s house and left them there, never to return again. Maki still wonders what happened to her parents.
Maki and Zero grew up in Death Valley, California with their grandfather. The siblings’ best friend there was Hissatsu Morioka. He was more of Zero’s friend, but Maki was too shy at the time to make many friends of her own. When Zero and Maki were in seventh grade (since Maki had been put up a grade), their grandfather decided it was time for them to move. They left Death Valley and went all the way to the opposite coast, now living in North Arlington, New Jersey.
Once in New Jersey, the siblings got through eight grade and entered high school at Coastside High. Maki was excited to find that the social standings had been flipped completely upside down. The preps were at the bottom, ruled over by the Goth clique. The two were immediately accepted by the leader, Tristan Fulcher, and her second-in-command Allison Black. Maki opened up a bit to the members of the Goth clique and became friends with Tristan, Allison, and a few others including Angellyca Hastings and Zero’s newfound girlfriend, Rosabella Greyfeild. Hissatsu Morioka, from Death Valley, shockingly moved there as well. Maki also went on her first (and only) [awkward] date with the Goth Shadow Sato.
After Maki had finally gotten used to Coastside High and life in New Jersey, her grandfather decided it would be better for her social skills if she attended Daze High School. She sadly packed her bags and left the Goth clique to go to a strange new high school where she’d have to live in the dorms by herself. Her brother was even staying behind at Coastside. Maki isn’t looking forward to going to a new high school.

APPEARANCE: Maki has long, perfectly straight midnight black hair. She has longish bangs across her forehead that hang into her eyes sometimes. She likes to wear random colored hair extensions. Her almond-shaped eyes are very dark; it is hard to tell whether they are a dark hazel or pure coal. She sometimes wears violet contacts, just to give her eyes a strange color. Her skin is on the pale side. She can usually be seen wearing darker colors, mostly black. Her height is five feet on the dot.
