HISTORY: Scarlett was born sixteen years ago to twenty year-old David Leigh and ninteen year-old Adrienne Duarte, two friends who had hooked up at a college party. Although they weren't together, and had never been dating, when their baby girl was born they both made a promise to be active in her life and to be there no matter what.

For the first five years of her life, Scarlett had never questioned her mother's and father's relationship, that was, until David brought his girlfriend, Charlotte, along to pick up Scarlett from the ballet studio. Being utterly confused, she waited until David parked his car in the driveway of her home, ran inside her house, and cried to her mother about Charlotte. After this little event happened, Adrienne and David sat down with the little girl and explained their relationship and how things were going to change in their lives. They reassured her that their love for her would never change, though, so Scarlett bucked up and felt better about everything.

Fast forward a few years later: Scarlett is now thirteen. She has gotten used to life with her step-dad, step-mom, and half-siblings. Her two families get along very well and are over at each other's houses all the time. I mean, they adore each other (like, her brother spends the night with her at her dad's house and her sister spends the night with her at her mom's house) and are pretty much like one huge family. Well, one day, all four of her parents get into this huge argument over who gets custody of Scarlett. It escalated from a screaming match to her mother and father trying to throw punches at the other, and dispite her attempts to stop it, they ignored her and kept on fighting. Scared, she ran to her room, locked her door, and cried for hours, letting herself believe that her family didn't care enough about her to stop their bickering. Although her parents tried to coax her into opening the door, she refused to open it for two days, only opening it for food, or her siblings. When she finally emerged, they all approached her and apologized, promising never to fight like that again. But the damage was already done.

Scarlett eventually mostly forgave her family for that fight when she was fifteen, but was unable to remove the poison from her veins, and still holds that one event against them all. She now dove into ballet and singing even more than before, hoping to be accepted into Daze High on account of her "talents". At sixteen, her dream (other than attendning Juliard and becoming a famous ballerina/broadway actress) came true, and she packed her bags for California, desperate to leave the Texan heat behind her.

She hadn't expected a school filled with crazed teenagers, drama, and utter lack of discipline and care. Scarlett wasn't sure of what to make of it, but two things were for sure:

1. It was a break of her normal school life

2. She was sure to like it there.
