HISTORY:
Welcome to Lyra (pronounced Lee-rah) Kayene's (pronounced Kuh-yen) absolutely dull life.
She was born in a small town in Maine, right by the rough Atlantic ocean. She grew up enjoying more freedom than most children in her age did.
She was a rather active, tomboyish girl in her early childhood days and spent most of her times climbing rocks and catching crabs in the rock pools, building wooden boats and playing cops and robbers in the moonlight. (I warned you, Lyra's life is perfectly average.)

Her father, Robert (though he prefers Rob) always wanted, desperately to be a "cool" dad. He wore trendy outfits, oversized sunglasses (and this in a seaside village) and sprouted words he thought would make him seem cool in some way. Lyra found it incredibly embarrassing. Her mother, Nancy, is a flower seller. Lyra loves flowers and spends quite a lot of time in the flower shop with her mother, picking beautiful roses and tulips to make the ultimate bouquet.

At the age of twelve, Lyra got her first boyfriend. His name was Kevin Hobkins, and quite frankly he was an ass. He was also four years older than her and far more experienced than she was. Lyra never fully realised just how stupid a situation she was in, until the day that Kevin tried to rape her, alone, in a boarded up lighthouse. She managed to escape in time and her older brother, fourteen at the time, raised hell.

Afterwards, life went on fairly normally- boringly- for Lyra. She went to school, got stellar, perfect grades and read novels in her spare time. She was always a whizz at school, picking up A+ grades like other's pick up joghurt in the supermarket. When Lyra turned fourteen, she got into a rather intense relationship with her best friend, Joanna-Lily Cross. Of course homosexuality in a small village such as hers would cause an uproar. Much more so than her near-rape experience as a twelve year old. The conservative, old-fashioned ways just wouldn't allow it.

Joanna and Lyra stayed together for one and a half years, exploring their sexuality together and being completely and totally in love. It was when Lyra and Joanna were caught, kissing near the entrace to a cave, that the rumor mill spread across the entire village. Everyone knew and stole lewd glares at the two teenage girls - fifteen and a half by now. When her parents had enough of the pressure put onto them, they decided that it would be best to keep Lyra and Joanna apart from each other. So Lyra is sent to San Francisco, to boarding school while Joanna stays in Maine.

She has long, raven black hair and unusual eyes, since hers are light blue. She has light skin and a fragile over all complexion. She doesn't like sports but is skinny anyway. Her parents say that she is too skinny, but she doesn't really care.
