HISTORY: Born in South Carolina, Sefrina was raised by a mother and father. Her mom is a quiet woman whose life long work has been devoted to researching and book work. She was always the smartest person Sefrina known. Her dad, another one who keeps to himself, was different. He was more the steady-silent one. When Sef was two, her mother was pregnant again and along came Kishi. It was a rather odd name, but, like her own, it came from her mothers research of ancient civilizations or whatever else her mom spent her time researching.

They were good together, 4 people who liked to do their own thing. But still, they came together as one for “family times”. Sefrina has a good amount memories with her mother, father and sister. Though, not all of her memories are good ones.

Sefrina, though her name means “burning one”, found herself at Myrtle Beach almost every other day, she held a nice even tan and always enjoyed the feel of the water lapping up against her feet as she walked the edge of the shoreline. She would dive into the water and allow herself to float around until she was too pruned to stay in the waves. That is, until the incident happened.

She was with some friends at the beach one day, when a new guy had joined the group. He singled out Sefrina and was constantly flirtatious. He led her out to the water and they swam together for a while. But, away from all the other kids, this new guy, so nice before, started getting a little too touchy. Sefrina kept saying no, but he didn’t give her any space at all. He was too close. Too, too close. That’s when the undertow snagged her.

Sefrina never felt anything like it. She struggled against it, though in the back of her mind she knew that she wasn’t supposed to. So, as the water filler her lungs in an icy burn she felt her world go black as she slipped from reality.

Someone noticed. Someone screamed for help, not that Sefrina heard any of this, but yes, Lifeguards took notice and by a thin-thread of a miracle, were able to pull Sefrina out of the water.

After that point, she wasn’t the same girl. She was secluded, and didn’t talk to her friends anymore. She hardly talked to her family either. But the biggest change of her life. She avoided the beach as if just looking at it would cause you to catch something close of the black plague. Water terrified her. And sometimes, people terrified her just the same.

That’s when Daze came into play. Her mother had discovered of this school and to her it sounded like just the escape that Sefrina needed. Though, Sefrina was just as afraid of this new move as staying at her original high school. Maybe this move would be good for her. Maybe.
