HISTORY:
Derek was born on September 19th, about eighteen years ago in New York, New York. He was born to his parents, and he grew up rather normal. That is, he met his long-time best friend and soon to be step brother when he was four. When he was five, his parents got divorced. His dad married Chris’s mom, and they moved in together as a family. Seeing as how his dad ran and owned a factory, he never saw him.
His step-mother figured that she could just go blow the money they had by shopping all day, or going to a spa. And that’s exactly what she did. He and Chris grew up with a nanny, having the same one since they hired her. He loved his family to death, and he didn’t care that he barely saw them. He just liked when he did see them. It made his month better.
When he was eight, he got his first e-mail from his real mother. He never replied, but he saved it. It meant a lot that she’d written to him, but the fact that she really didn’t contact him before made him despise talking to her or about her. She kept sending them, but he never replied.
This was also about the time Derek started getting picked on. He was extremely smart, and the other kids didn’t see how he could not be made fun of for something like that. He kept on getting shoved in lockers, and Chris tried to stop them, but eventually, Chris ignored Derek, except when they were at home. And to this, Derek changed.
He began to act dumb, changing his grades to almost failing, and cracking everyone up. He stopped getting picked on, and he figured that this was how he had to act in order to get respect. He changed for middle school, mind you. No one cared what he was like in grade school anymore.
Middle school was also where he met his female best friend, Anna Smith. Since both of their families were rich and got invited to hundreds of parties a year, Anna and Derek, along with Chris, would chill together at them. Anna used to love Sharpies, so he gave her that nickname.
They began to hang out of the party scene, and having more fun than they should’ve. That got Anna sent off to boarding school, and now all he had was Chris. Great. So, once he started talking to Anna again, she convinced him to move to San Fran to finish his schooling, and that’s what he did. His parents wouldn’t care. They never saw him anyways.

APPEARANCE:
Derek has hazel eyes that are really nothing too special. His hair is somewhat shaggy and a dirty blond color. He's not the tannest guy around, seeing as he's indoors a lot. His fashion sense isn't the greatest, consisting of button up shirts or any old tee-shirt he can find. His pants are normally jeans, and his shoes are just whatever he can find.
